Picture it: a party, a cookie tray and one person holding a glass of water, smiling politely. If that person has ever been you, you already know why That's Dough! exists.
A wish, a whisk and a whole lot of testing
Our founder, Dorielis Avilan, spent years living with food allergies. She knew the drill by heart: read every label, ask every question, and too often, pass on dessert.
What she wanted wasn't fancy. She wanted a cookie that felt safe and still tasted like the real thing. Not "pretty good for allergy-friendly." Just plain good. The kind of cookie you'd happily serve to anyone, allergies or not, and watch disappear from the plate.
So she got baking.
Born in a prairie kitchen
In her rural Manitoba kitchen, Dorielis set out to make cookie dough that was gluten-free, dairy-free, nut-free and plant-based, without losing the flavour, texture and indulgence that make cookies worth waiting for.
The result is That's Dough!: a proudly Canadian, refrigerated, ready-to-bake cookie dough designed to bake into soft, bakery-style cookies right in your own oven.
Along the way, the idea earned some cheering. That's Dough! won 1st Place Pitch and People's Choice through Food Venture with Food & Beverage Manitoba. Turns out a lot of people were waiting for this cookie, too.
Why "ready-to-bake" is the whole point
Allergy-aware baking from scratch can be a project. Specialty flours. Swaps that don't quite swap. Batches that flop.
Ready-to-bake dough skips all that. Keep a pouch in the fridge, bake when the craving hits and get straight to the good part: the smell drifting out of the oven and that first warm bite.
Free-from, and full of fun
Yes, we talk a lot about what's not in our dough. It matters. But that's only half the story.
The other half is joy. Flavours with names that make you grin (we can't wait to introduce them). Pouches that look like a party in the fridge. And the simple feeling of reaching for the same tray as everyone else, no questions asked.
That's what "Dough Better. Feel Better." means to us. It's not about being perfect. It's about making room at the table.
Pull up a chair
Whether you live with allergies, bake for someone who does or simply love a good cookie, welcome. There's always room for one more.
